OUR PASTOR
Don Caviness is the organizing pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian. He is a native of North Carolina and is married to Velma Howell of Pensacola, Florida. Don and Velma first met each other in 1973 during which time both resided in Jackson, Mississippi.

Both are graduates of Belhaven College in Jackson and Don is a graduate of the Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson.
In the Spring of 1997, Don was called to assume the responsibilities associated with the establishing of this new church. Don and Velma had previously served the church as cross-cultural missionaries in Italy and Taiwan. Then for nine years the labored on the PCA mission team in Lisbon, Portugal where God used them in the establishment of two congregations. For more than 25 years now, God has used Don and Velma to evangelize, disciple, teach and train His people. They both have a passion for God, a love of the Gospel of grace and a keen desire to help people discover their God-given gifts, talents and resources which can all be used for the glory of God and extension of Christ's church.
Don and Velma have two daughters. Their older daughter, Kerry, is a graduate of Covenant College, a science teacher, and is married to Christopher Wright, who is preparing himself for the pastoral ministry at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. Susannah, the younger, is an eighth grader in Rutherfordton who loves her school activities, sports and is passionate for all animals.
